Bausch & Lomb named Flemming Ornskov, MD, MPH, corporate vice president and global president, Pharmaceuticals. He is responsible for the company's prescription ophthalmic pharmaceuticals and generics, and general eye health and vitamin businesses. Ornskov was previously CEO and president of LifeCycle Pharma. Charmant USA appointed Stefanie Calloway as West Coast regional manager. Calloway most recently held sales management positions at Luxottica and Neostyle. The Kenmark Group promoted Loretta Simeon and Rick Snyder to regional sales managers. Simeon will be responsible for Florida's west coast area and the Southern territory, and Snyder will be responsible for San Antonio, Texas, and the South Central territory. Michele D'Adamo has been named managing director at Carl Zeiss Vision, following Gaetano Sciuto's resignation from the position to become the licenses and accessories division director at Fendi. D'Adamo has been with Sola Sunlens Company since 1996, and previously served as director of operations and manufacturing manager of Sola Sunlens Europe. Les Rookstool has joined Liberty Sport as vice president of field sales/national accounts. For the past seven years, Rookstool was the director of sales-West for Bushnell Outdoor Products, where he managed all channels of trade for sales distribution in eyewear. |

Signet Armorlite has made a consulting agreement with Craig Chasnov, owner of Eyetopian Optical, with three locations in Southwest Florida. The company has commissioned Chasnov to explore new distribution channels that can benefit from lenses manufactured with KODAK Unique technology, including sunglass manufacturers.

Optical Dynamics, a division of Vision Dynamics, announced two new international distribution partners: World Optics LLC of Moscow, Russia, and Eye Technologies Group of Milan, Italy, launched their Optical Dynamics distributorships at MIDO.
IN MEMORY
René Grandperret, 90, a founding chairman of Essilor, has passed away. Grandperret managed, with Anatole Temkine, the merger of Essel and Silor, which became Essilor in 1972. An engineer, he originated innovations including the first organic lens and the use of CR39 in optics.
Safilo USA announced the passing of sales representative Jim Champion, a 23-year veteran of the Safilo sales division. Champion, 70, was known for his dedication to the optical industry and this past year he achieved membership in Safilo USA's Presidents Club.
