The Boss Black sunglass offerings will be sold exclusively in the United States via better optical retailers, as well as department stores and specialty stores. The sunglasses are elegant, contemporary, and sophisticated. The collection combines the high quality of the BOSS brand with pricing that meets the needs of the U.S. consumer. Each style is classic, yet features modern and updated detailing, including gradient polarized lenses. The collection features plastic styles and metal/plastic combination styles in rectangular eye shapes, as well as two aviator shapes. Colors include black, dark havana, and havana vintage, along with metallic tones of matte black, semi-matte dark ruthenium, semi-matte brown havana, light gold dark havana, and dark ruthenium black.
Marketing will include trade advertising, a six-piece couvette case, and an informational brochure/catalog.
“We are extremely excited to offer our optical customers an Rxable and polarized Boss Black sunglass collection that has been designed with the U.S. customer in mind,” says Dick Russo, executive vice president of Safilo USA.

VIVA INTERNATIONAL GROUP ROLLS OUT GANT RUGGER
Inspired by preppy icons like the men and women of the Kennedy family Gant is an American brand that represents classic and timeless style. The latest development in the brand is the Rugger concept, which blends vintage style and modern flair for an engaging collection. For the upcoming Fall and Winter season, Gant Rugger fashions are inspired by classic hunting and fishing outfitting.
The grouping has come onto the eyewear horizon with a new ophthalmic eyewear group for men from Viva International Group. The Gant Rugger subcollection is based largely on archive pieces and vintage findings that the design firm has collected over the years. The influences are primarily based on American sportswear and classic, timeless pieces.
The Gant Rugger style is laid back and sophisticated in an unstructured way, for men who look good without spending hours preparing for the day. In addition, the company is targeting those who are digitally savvy and in the mindset of the age span of 20 to 40. Identified by the diamond G logo, the Gant Rugger collection is an eclectic mix of modern and vintage, classic and innovative.
Releasing this month, the collection includes 12 ophthalmic styles with features including:
■ Small, vintage-styled metals (GR Boerum)
■ Scrolling-patterned bridge and temple details (GR Remy GR Rumsey)
■ Fashion-forward color combinations and color blocking (GR Gates in TOOR and AMBTO/GR Linden in CLTO)
■ Round retro plastics (GR Cypress, GR Adams)
