ACCESSORIES CLOSE UP: READERS
Welcome to the Jungle
From re-creations to the real deal, this fall’s readers answer the call of the wild
as faux fur and shearling strut down the streets of fall accompanied by strong, ’70s-inspired prints and textures, readers are answering the call of the wild with earthy horns and ethereal new takes on tort.
A geekish chic continues, too, helping strong but light readers make a statement and keeping wearers in focus and in style.
‘Tis the season to consider boosting your reader inventory. According to The Vision Council’s VisionWatch June 2015 OTC Readers Sales report, reader sales are up for men and women in the 35-44, 45-54, and 55+ age groups. Leading the sales for readers are 55+ and women buyers.
Appealing to the higher end of reader inventory might be the way to ensure multiple-pair sales. Wearers with household incomes over $60,000 represent 16.3 million reader wearers who are buying 28.3 million reader units, a figure that has jumped by 1.6 million since June 2014.
