Specs for Contact Lens Wearers
ZEISS has launched EnergizeMe lenses—a lens product that is like no others that came before it—one that is specifically designed for the vision needs of contact lens wearers.
Contact wearers often keep their lenses in for extended periods before changing into eyeglasses at the end of the day. In fact, a global ZEISS survey found that 65% of contact lens wearers also enjoy wearing eyeglasses.
“Digital eye strain and eye fatigue caused by contact lens use are pervasive, and ZEISS EnergizeMe lenses will allow ECPs to optimally serve the vision needs of the 40 million contact lens wearers in the market.”
—Veneeta Eason, senior director of marketing, Carl Zeiss Vision, Inc.
But this cycle can cause eye strain and fatigue, especially in today’s digital world where patients tend to blink less when looking at screens and devices. Enter ZEISS EnergizeMe lenses, engineered to refresh the eyes of contact lens wearers. The lenses boast a special design adapted to the specific vision patterns of contact lens wearers (i.e., their eye-to-eye movements versus head movements). They also feature ZEISS’ Digital Inside Technology, which optimizes the lens design for reading distances of print media and digital devices, plus ZEISS’ DuraVision BlueProtect AR coating for comfort and protection from digital eye strain and blue light.
Three EnergizeMe lens options are available: ZEISS EnergizeMe Single Vision lenses, ZEISS EnergizeMe Digital lenses, and ZEISS EnergizeMe Progressive lenses.

New, Easy-to-Fit Progressive
VSP Optics Group is expanding its Unity portfolio with the launch of Unity Via progressive lenses, specifically crafted to be easy to fit.
Rather than forcing the eye to adjust to the lens, Via’s designs follow the natural path of the eye for a comfortable fit and easy adaptation. Only a few simple measurements are necessary, and POW measurements are optional.
Unity Via corridor lengths are automatically calculated by an internal algorithm, providing a continuous range of progression lengths. This allows for properly accommodating many different PDs, facial structures, and frame styles while maintaining a generous amount of reading area, VSP notes.
Three designs are offered. Unity Via incorporates Automatic Reading Height Optimization and Variable Inset for entry-level PAL wearers; Unity Via Plus adds Digital Viewpoint Technology to reduce peripheral distortion (for patients who’ve had trouble adapting in the past); and Unity Via Elite features all of that plus the customization of Advanced Fit Technology for the highest level of customization, adaptation, and comfort.
The portfolio includes five PAL options in the F, N, and O categories, including designs for frames with a high wrap, and for patients who use mobile devices for more than four hours per day.

Lens Generator for Retailers
Coburn Technologies has launched the latest lens generator in its Cobalt product line, Cobalt NX. Perfect for small- and medium-sized wholesale labs as well as large retail labs (multi-location practices), the generator produces a quality of lenses superior to that of its previous generators, Coburn says.
Capable of processing all indices of lenses from 1.498 to 1.74, it has an interrupted-cut feature (eliminating the need for a granulator), and its onboard cold mist/dry cut means there is no waste management needed.
Cobalt NX also has an engraving feature, with capabilities to produce simple shapes and alphanumeric symbols using the secondary axis.
