Want to host a trunk show but don’t know where to start? This month, our optical checklist delivers all the steps to make it happen, from start to finish.
our monthly checklist aims to provide managers, opticians, and staff with a go-to monthly resource for getting it all done.
On tap this month? This month’s focus is on throwing a successful trunk show.
A great way to kick off the spring and summer months is with an opportunity for your patients to purchase the most up-to-date trends in ophthalmic and sunglass frames at discounted rates.
Here at Complete Family Vision Care Optometry, we will be holding our Fifth Annual Trunk Show. Over the years, we have learned that these shows allow us to connect more thoroughly, and build stronger and more trustworthy relationships with our patients.
This month’s checklist lays out all the steps to make it happen, from start to finish.
About the authors: Our checklist is pulled together by the highly respected ECP team at Complete Family Vision Care Optometry in San Diego—including owner and optometrist Eric M. White, O.D., and staff Ashley Samuels, Julia Buchanan, Gloria Lopez, and Lorie White.
They’ve worked hard to create this optical checklist so you don’t have to. So dig in, tear out, and share it up with your team.
JUNE 2018
WEEK ONE
Figure out the date for the show, and prepare email marketing and social media platforms and make save-the-date signs.
Compile a list of potential frame vendors to participate. Base this on the time of year of the show, styles and trends that are in, and what will draw your client base to the show.
Contact the chosen frame vendors, review their frames, and book them for the event.
WEEK TWO
Prepare a menu for lunch or appetizers, drinks, and sweet treats.
Put the word out to all optical groups to donate prizes for raffle drawings.
Ensure you book it out far enough in advance so that all the necessary staff is available (all hands must be on deck for this event to run smoothly).
WEEK THREE
Look into renting tables and tablecloths for the food and merchandise.
Make sure merchandise is clean and free of dust and smudges.
Come up with a theme for the trunk show that is relative to the time of year (i.e., seasons or upcoming holidays) or trends you are showcasing.
WEEK FOUR
Put up signage to advertise the featured brands.
Set up event displays that both are aesthetically pleasing and will grab attendees’ attention.
Put together goodie bags for raffle drawings. If possible, include lens cleaner and cloths with the practice’s name.
