MiSight 1 Day Contact Lens
CooperVision received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval of its MiSight 1 day contact lens—a daily-wear, single-use contact lens that is the first and only FDA-approved product clinically proven to slow the progression of myopia (nearsightedness or short-sightedness) when initially prescribed for children 8 to 12 years old.
MiSight 1 day will launch in the U.S. as part of a CooperVision myopia management initiative, beginning in March 2020. According to the company, the lens is already being successfully worn by myopic children in other parts of the world, including Canada, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Australia. coopervision.com

Silk AR Lens Coating
Signet Armorlite introduces Silk, an addition to its premium Kodak anti-reflective lens coatings. The ultra-slick topcoat is designed to enhance AR lenses, featuring a higher contact angle to repel oil, water, and particles. The lens maker also says the product has minimal deterioration after 20,000 cleaning cycles (simulating three-year wear and tear) and 50% higher scratch resistance than the company’s current AR coatings.
Silk is available from Signetek and authorized Kodak Clean&CleAR Lens labs as an optional add-on. Kodak Total Blue lenses will automatically include Silk.

Mobilent LED Magnifier
The new Mobilent LED folding pocket magnifier from Eschenbach offers high magnification in a compact size with added illumination, as well as a built-in case designed to provide protection for the lens when the product is not in use.
When extra light is needed, the LED light can be turned on by pressing a button on the bottom of the magnifier case. Included is an 18-inch lanyard that can be threaded through the loop hole in the magnifier case.
