Neelam Patel wants to raise awareness on the importance of vision care.
The low vision specialist for Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada is doing just that through her platform as a contestant in this year’s Miss Universe Canada competition, originally scheduled to take place in August, rescheduled this month due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Although the pandemic brought some doubts, my dream to compete in the pageant did not change,” says Patel. “The pageant gave me the opportunity to raise awareness on eye care and fundraise for SOS Children’s Village. During these difficult times, I decided to follow my dreams because I knew I was helping people along the way.”
Here, Patel talks vision, empowerment, and more.
