Rebellious Attitude
Legendary eyewear designer Christian Roth—an edCFDA (eyewear designers of the Council of Fashion Designers of America) founding member whose namesake collection is produced by DITA—recently teamed up with 23-year-old creative force and photographer Alexander DiGenova for the brand’s latest campaign starring Roth’s new collection, both inspired by the countercultural ethos of 1980s New York City.
Shot in DiGenova’s Los Angeles apartment with a video link to Roth in Miami amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the images feature the photographer’s fellow muses (who were isolated with him) wearing Roth’s experimental and rebellious silhouettes.
“Early ’80s New York matters today; we still feel the creative energy, strivings, and tensions of those years,” says Roth. “For us, it was the gateway to live our dreams and to express our identities.”
The campaign features collection standouts such as the punk-influenced Firi sunglasses, pictured, the extravagant Armer aviators, and the Round-Wav, an unapologetic, night life-inspired silhouette.
