Chef Giorgio Locatelli has earned a coveted Michelin star, twice.
And, it is his aligning qualities of Made in Italy savoir faire and creative innovation—along with his penchant for beautiful eyewear—that inspired Safilo Group to choose this remarkable restaurateur as ambassador for its eponymous SAFILO brand’s 2020 collection. Recognized as one of the finest Italian chefs in the world, Locatelli sat down exclusively with EB to answer a few quick questions—plus provide a must-try recipe.
EB: To what specific qualities do you attribute your Michelin star at Locanda Locatelli?
Locatelli: My Michelin star is based on Italian tradition with a representation of the origins of Italy through the menu.
EB: As a restaurateur and chef, how have you been navigating the Covid crisis?
Locatelli: It was very hard to begin with, but after a couple of weeks I got comfortable with being at home—I have never been home for three months before. Food was very central to our daily routine. I really enjoyed having so much time to cook and eat with my family. I learned some fantastic cooking tips from my daughter, Margherita.
