This month, the Optometric Business Tracker data reveals that, while exams and sales recovered slightly in December over November, that recovery is hard-earned amidst today’s ongoing challenges.
There was better news in patient payments, which tipped back to just 3% down year over year in December, up from 7% down in November.
But, according to GPN, the market may finally be stabilizing.
“After the drastic closures and hardship in mid-2020, practices reopened and stabilized throughout the rest of the year. The increase in Covid cases is no longer slowing down business in most locations, except where there are mandatory shutdowns. The new normal has come,” says Evan Kestenbaum, co-founder and chief operating officer of GPN.
