ABB OPTICAL GROUP
Abby Contact Lens Ordering Platform
ABB Optical Group has announced the pilot launch of Abby, a web-based contact lens ordering platform that allows patients to order directly from their eyecare providers. The pilot will elicit feedback from participating providers and patients to improve the platform ahead of its official launch this summer.
MKM Research reports that 59% of patients buy contact lenses online, compared with 28% before the pandemic. According to ABB, Abby offers a solution for this common loss of revenue and gap in patient care. This new e-commerce platform will help strengthen doctor-patient relationships by keeping the transaction at the practice, with the benefit of free shipping for patients, says the company.
Described by ABB as a “virtual staff member that is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” the company shares that Abby will be the only platform of its kind that is free for providers.
ESCHENBACH OPTIK OF AMERICA INC.
Acunis FL-41
Eschenbach Optik of America Inc. has introduced its new Acunis FL-41 filters, designed for patients with light sensitivity due to migraines, traumatic brain injury, and other eye conditions.
While conventional sunglass lenses attenuate all light wavelengths evenly, Acunis FL-41 lenses reduce select light wavelengths responsible for glare to provide a more comfortable viewing experience for patients, says Eschenbach Optik.
Acunis FL-41 lenses come in three tints: 25% light absorption (light), 50% light absorption (medium), and 75% light absorption (dark). Each tint is available in a choice of four Acunis frames, two stainless steel and two acetate. Each frame has different features, sizes, and styles to meet the needs of a wide variety of wearers.
IOT
Camber Steady Plus Progressive Lenses
IOT has released its new Camber Steady Plus Progressive lenses, which it calls its most advanced progressives yet. The lenses deliver wider reading zones, improved peripheral vision, and unbeatable near-vision performance to patients, says IOT.
According to the company, 100% of wearers find the near zone easier, and 88% experience easier adaptation. ECPs can employ complete personalization parameters such as wrap, vertex distance, pantoscopic tilt, individual mono PDs for near and far, and a specified near working distance.
Camber Steady Plus Progressive lenses combine a digital free-form backside built on IOT’s digital ray-path 2 technology, patented steady plus methodology, and a Camber lens blank created by Younger Optics.
