PRIDE PROJECT
In celebration of Pride Month this month, the Los Angeles-based eyewear designers of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (edCFDA) for the Barton Perreira, Blake Kuwahara, and l.a.Eyeworks brands have joined together to design limited-edition sunglass styles to benefit the Los Angeles LGBT Center.
A vibrant array of rainbow-inspired hues emblazon the styles, which are more specifically defined by each designer’s own aesthetic.
Barton Perreira revives beloved archive styles with vibrant, mirrored rainbow lenses, while Blake Kuwahara crafts a colorful rendition of his Chambers frame in custom-made acetate. For its design, l.a.Eyeworks offers the chunky Amortini frame in custom rainbow and crystal acetate with blue topaz sun lenses.
All sunglasses come with an exuberant rainbow-print cleaning cloth made from recycled PET plastic bottles, a nod to the brands’ commitment to sustainability.
A percentage of the sales of these special sunglass styles will be donated to the Los Angeles LGBT Center, a nonprofit organization that has been providing programs in health, social services and housing, culture and education, and leadership and advocacy for the LGBT community since 1969. The brands’ contributions will directly benefit the Senior Services programs of the Los Angeles LGBT Center.
“This is such an important time to be emphatic in our recognition and support of the spectrum of identities that Pride celebrates,” says l.a.Eyeworks co-founder/designer Gai Gherardi.“The ‘amor’ in the name of our dedicated frame, Amortini, echoes our oft-repeated encouragement to ‘Love One Another.’”
