From podcasts to TikToks and publications, Mahnia Madan, O.D., FAAO, takes the stage to share her dry eye expertise and eyecare knowledge so that the industry—and consumers—remain informed.
“As experts in our field, I feel it’s our obligation to educate the public on important eye health issues and continue to educate ourselves,” Dr. Madan says. “However, the way we all now receive and share information has changed. Some may look at social media and see it as a ‘waste of time.’ But change is all around, and it’s time we embrace it. As long as we hold on to our desire to provide good patient care and a deeper mission of improving the quality of human life, the way we deliver care can evolve and help us grow.”
Here, the owner of Vancouver Eye Doctor and president of member-based nonprofit organization BC Doctors of Optometry talks change, humility, and more.

Having the opportunity to lecture at Pacific University College of Optometry was beyond rewarding and nostalgic, as that is where I went to school. I am also humbled and honored to be serving as president for BC Doctors of Optometry.

I think the pandemic accelerated change in me. Like many, I was looking for the right time to grow, and I feel like the pandemic helped me streamline and focus on what is important.
