Aug. 11, 2021 — The Optical Women’s Association (OWA) has announced upcoming events slated to take place during Vision Expo West 2021 in Las Vegas.

On Thursday, Sept. 23, from noon to 1:30 p.m. PST, the organization will host its Connection Series event featuring Dr. Connie Mariano, author of “The White House Doctor.” In the story (a 2021 OWA book selection), Dr. Mariano recounts nine years of serving under three sitting presidents, participating in world headline-making news events, and traveling around the globe caring for dignitaries and members of the First Family. 

Dr. Mariano will discuss her groundbreaking achievements and current endeavors, and will be available after the event for book signing. The Connection Series will take place in Venetian level two room 2302. The event is $35 for OWA members and $40 for nonmembers. Register by Sept. 17 here.

In addition to the Connection Series, the OWA will be celebrating its 2021 award recipients with a ceremony and networking reception on Friday, Sept. 24 from 6-7:30 PST. 

Sponsored by Luxottica, the event will honor the 2021 Pleiades Award honoree, Gai Gherardi of l.a.Eyeworks, and the 2021 Pyxis Award honoree, Debbie Myres of Visual Inspirations.



The event will be held at The Seen destination on the show floor. The event is free, but advance registration is required. RSVP here by Sept. 17.

The OWA will also host its annual auction and raffle, with bidding beginning on Sunday, Sept. 19, and ending on Friday, Sept. 24. More details on the auction will be released in the coming weeks.
