June 15, 2023 — Zeiss has collaborated with Apple to develop optical inserts for the computer company’s upcoming launch, Apple Vision Pro, a computer that users wear over their eyes. The device brings users to a three-dimensional interface controlled by their own eyes, hands, and voice. The breakthrough design features a resolution system that presents 23 million pixels across two displays.
The spatial computer is powered by the first spatial operating system visionOS, which allows users to interact with digital content as if it were physically present in their space.
“Creating our first spatial computer required invention across nearly every facet of the system,” says Mike Rockwell, Apple’s vice president of the technology development group. “Through a tight integration of hardware and software, we designed a standalone spatial computer in a compact wearable form factor that is the most advanced personal electronics device ever.”
Starting at $3,499, Apple Vision Pro will be available early next year. The optical inserts developed by Zeiss will be sold separately.
