June 12, 2024 — ABB Optical Group is now accepting registrations for its 10th annual Optometry Student Challenge. Third- and fourth-year optometry students are invited to submit an abstract on a student-based case report or research study project for a chance to win a $1,500 travel grant to attend the 2025 Global Specialty Lens Symposium presented by Contact Lens Spectrum.
“This marks the 10th year of ABB’s Optometry Student Challenge. We are honored to be part of the students’ initial steps into their optometry careers,” says Dede Reyes, manager of consultation and education, specialty contact lens. “We look forward to the new and creative cases they will present.”
Optometry students must register here by Saturday, Aug. 31, and submit their abstract by Monday, Oct. 14. Topics must be related to contact lenses and can include applications for presbyopia, keratoconus, corneal topography, post-penetrating keratoplasty, irregular corneal surfaces, myopia control, lens care/solutions, custom soft lenses, ortho-k, instrumentation for ocular surface measurement, and sports/performance vision. Judges will select six abstracts, and finalists will be notified by Wednesday, Oct. 23.
Finalists will convert their submissions into poster formats and present them during a live virtual meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 11. Attendees can vote for their favorite posters, and these votes will be included in the overall judging.
