May 29, 2024 — The International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) has released details for the 2030 In Sight Live event taking place June 25-27 in Mexico City. The event aims to unite eye health stakeholders to address avoidable sight loss by 2030.
“2030 In Sight Live fosters a collaborative environment where shared knowledge, discussion, and unwavering commitment can be a catalyst to eliminating avoidable blindness,” says IAPB CEO Peter Holland.
Co-hosted with the Asociación para Evitar la Ceguera en México, the event will feature expert speakers discussing topics such as global eye health research, technology in eye care, and eye health in indigenous populations.
To accommodate the 600 expected delegates, the event will be bilingual, with simultaneous translation in Spanish and English. Key speakers include a Paralympic gold medalist, a U.N. ambassador, representatives from the World Health Organization, economists, and eye health professionals from around the world.
"I am privileged to join IAPB and the Asociación para Evitar la Ceguera en México, and all of you at 2030 In Sight Live, because I see a world where every individual has the right to clear vision, and where barriers crumble in the face of collective action,” says Eduardo Avila Sanchez, Paralympic gold medalist, actor, and influencer.
