The Contact Lens Institute (CLI) has launched a three-part video series providing guidance on healthy wear and care practices for new soft contact lens users. The videos, featuring insights from CLI Visionaries, highlight best practices and promote The EASY Way (Eyes, Awareness, Safety & You) program. The series is available on the CLI YouTube channel.
The release follows findings from CLI’s 2024 report, “Disrupting the Dropout Dilemma: Practical Steps to Keep Patients in Contact Lenses,” which underscores the importance of patient education. According to the report, 67% of contact lens users with less than two years of experience cited wear and care training by eye care professionals as a key factor in their decision to continue using contact lenses.
The featured experts in the video series include EB editorial board member Andrew Bruce, LDO, ABOM, NCLEM, FCLSA, of ASB Opticianry Education Services; 2022 EBGameChanger Jennifer Stewart, OD, of Look New Canaan; Shelby Brogdon, OD, of McFarland Eye Care; Ryan Corte, OD, of Northlake Eye; Jennifer Liao, OD, FAAO, FSLS, of the New England College of Optometry; and Christopher Wolfe, OD, FAAO, Dipl. ABO, of Exclusively Eyecare.
Now in its fifth year, The EASY Way program provides educational materials for eyecare practices across the U.S. and internationally. The program includes infographics and digital resources designed to simplify and reinforce safe contact lens habits. The key principles of the program focus on three steps:
- Think Clean: Wash and dry hands before handling contact lenses, properly disinfect reusable lenses, and avoid water exposure.
- Remember Fresher Is Better: Follow the recommended replacement schedule for lenses and solution and replace lens cases every three months.
- Trust Your Eye Doctor: Consult eyecare professionals for guidance and contact them with any concerns.
