
VSP Vision has released its 2024 Impact Report, detailing the organization’s efforts and progress across corporate social responsibility initiatives. The report highlights advancements in health equity, sustainability, and workplace inclusion, as well as investments made in communities and the optometric profession.
According to the report, VSP Vision surpassed its goal of producing 50% of its eyewear frames from sustainable materials by 2025, reaching 53% in 2024. The company also collaborated with network providers, community partners, and employees to invest more than $11.3 million in direct and in-kind resources aimed at increasing equitable access to vision care.
Here are some key takeaways, according to the report:
- Health Equity: VSP Vision provided free vision care to 252,000 people in need this year, raising the total served through its Eyes of Hope program to more than 4.3 million. The company donated 201,000 pairs of eyewear, contributed $695,000 in disaster relief, and invested $335,000 in scholarships and grants for future optometrists. Additionally, it launched the Future Leaders Academy, a professional development initiative for new and early-career optometrists.
- Sustainability: In addition to exceeding its eyewear sustainability target, the company introduced demo lenses made from 100% recycled post-consumer materials and eliminated the use of PVC nose pads across all Marchon brands. Packaging improvements resulted in diverting 31 tons of plastic from landfills in 2024.
- Inclusion: VSP Vision reported employee engagement and retention rates 17% above industry benchmarks. Employee volunteer hours increased by 41% to over 16,000 hours, and fundraising efforts generated $506,000 for nearly 1,500 nonprofits.
