Heru announced in a company press release the US launch of the PretestPro on its Heru Prime wearable platform that can run 4 pretest exams in 90 seconds. PretestPro leverages virtual reality and eye tracking to capture multiple tests in a single, guided workflow that produces a consolidated, quantitative report of the results. Patients are guided to maintain fixation by Nora, Heru’s patient-friendly fixation target, while PretestPro runs 4 critical pretesting eye exams, including 8-point suprathreshold, near cover test, extraocular motility (EOM), and quantitative pupillometry including RAPD and PERRLA status.

According to the company, Heru Prime users can also run Heru’s Visual Acuity Testing for an additional 30 seconds, meaning clinicians can now complete 50% of their pretesting in 2 minutes, allowing more time for exam lane throughput and patient education. Heru’s portable platform digitizes and automates manual eye tests for efficiency and clinical consistency, and can be worn in any pre-test area, in the waiting room, or in remote locations. Nora, an AI-driven fixation target guides the patient through various modalities, which could include the new PretestPro; suprathreshold VF; full threshold VF 24-2, 10-2, and 30-2; Esterman VF; visual acuity testing; Ishihara color vision test; near and distance cover tests; quantitative pupillometry; and EOM assessment, the company said. 

According to Heru, all future and current Heru Prime customers will receive PretestPro free of charge through an automatic software update.
