American Optical marks the 90th anniversary of its aviator sunglasses, first developed for U.S. military pilots in 1935. Founded in 1833, the brand originally designed the lightweight frame to improve visibility and reduce glare at high altitudes—a military tool that has since become a widely recognized fashion staple.
To commemorate the anniversary, American Optical has released two new aviator-inspired designs from Europa Eyewear.

The Racer, pictured here, is an acetate sun style featuring a sport-oriented design with AOLite nylon lenses.

The Margot is a reimagined, curvier take on the brand’s aviator, a metal sun style with acetate temple tips and AOLite nylon lenses.
