Younger Optics has added Zachary Milam to its team as a retail lens consultant to Ohio and the surrounding areas. In the position, Milam will support dispensaries by educating managers and staffs on Younger products.
Scott Olivet has been named Oakley, Inc.'s chief executive officer and director. He succeeds founder, chairman, and CEO Jim Jannard, who will continue as chairman of the board of directors.
The Kenmark Group recently promoted Bart
Floyd to vice president of sales. Floyd began his career at Kenmark in
1997 as a sales representative for North Carolina, and was promoted to regional
sales manager in 1998. In 2001, Floyd was promoted to national sales manager and
relocated to Kenmark's corporate office in Louisville, Ky. His responsibilities
include continuing to work with the regional sales managers and sales representatives
as well as numerous major key accounts to ensure Kenmark's continued growth
and
success. Floyd has 25 years of experience in the optical industry.
HumanWare USA has made the appointment of acting president Philip Rance permanent. The firm has also announced that the co-founder and president of the original HumanWare, Jim Halliday, will assume a broader role within the company. Halliday retired from his CEO role in 2003, but has remained on staff in an advisory capacity.

Ophthalmic retinal imager Optos, Inc., has entered into a strategic alliance with interactive design and multimedia firm Eyemaginations, Inc. The partnership enables Optos and Eyemaginations to capitalize on the strengths of both their companies in order to deliver the best eyecare patient education materials.

The Vision Council of America has
joined with Reading Is Fundamental, Inc., to educate
parents and teachers
about the link between healthy vision and learning. Public service announcements
will play a large role in the partnership and they will be distributed to print
and broadcast media as well as through the VCA and RIF.
The Kenmark Group has aided victims of Hurricane Katrina by donating nearly 7,500 frames to various relief efforts, including the Vision Council of America's "Vision Alliance and Relief Fund" and Luxottica Retail's "Gift of Sight Foundation." Kenmark also donated several frames to accounts in the Gulf Coast region who are collecting eyewear for those in need. Kenmark's frame donations included a variety of shapes, colors, and sizes for men and women.
Sàfilo has donated 1,000 children's eyeglass frames to Vision Council of America's Vision Alliance Relief Fund, fulfilling a request from Texas for children's eyewear. They've also raised $70,000 (comprised of contributions from employees, independent sales reps, and company matching program) which was sent to the Red Cross Katrina Relief Fund.
Clarkson Eyecare is providing free eyewear and collecting necessities such as food, toiletries, and cleaning supplies for the displaced Hurricane Katrina victims. These donated items can be dropped at all Clarkson Eyecare locations.
In other Katrina recovery news, Essilor of America is providing up to $500,000 in monetary contributions, supporting organizations such as AOA, VCA, and others. Essilor Laboratories of America will also provide lab services for those in the affected areas. For lenses and lab services requests, contact Heather Allen at 214-496-4811.
Luxottica Group has also contributed to relief projects by organizing multiple group efforts to help Katrina victims. This has included thousands of volunteered hours, donated optometry services and products, financial aid, and assistance to both employees and private practice eyecare professionals affected by the storm. The Luxottica Vision Vans were on-site at relief centers and provided more than 5,000 people with eye exams and glasses.
