Flattering and functional, black never forgets the primary directivestyle. Black has resurfaced in the fashion world adding a touch of mystery and romance, as well as a degree of sophistication that has been missing in the lighter hues of previous seasons.
This season, the runways have been filled with so many different style directions, from lace-decked goth divas, black and white striped mods, and fur- and feather draped fashion plates, to Victorian romantics and Edwardian dandies, all with one thing in common: Black.
And while over the past few years, black frames may have been limited to Audrey Hepburn and Jackie O-inspired sunwear, those days are gone. The color's simplicity gives reign to creativity in detail perfectly suited to ophthalmic frames. Peeks of paisley, startling contrasts with white, dramatic metallic glints, and so many eyewear shapes move well beyond basic black.
