SAFILO DELIVERS JUICY GIRLS COLLECTION
Safilo USA has launched the Juicy Girls ophthalmic collection with four styles for girls ages seven to 13. Two models are plastic (Julie and See You) and two are plastic/metal combinations (Sunshine and Too Cool). The Juicy brand is popular among women of all ages, so rounding out the eyewear collection to make it available to young girls as well as the older Juicy customer was a logical progression, Safilo representatives note.
The best-selling shapes from the Juicy Couture women's eyewear collection were scaled down to create the Juicy Girls collection. Detailing on the frames includes glitz and embellishments inspired by Juicy Couture jewelry and apparel, and hearts and cherries from the charm bracelets adorn the temples of two styles. In other colorful touches, the Juicy rainbow from the girls T-shirt collection and Juicy crown logo are featured on the other two styles.
Fun colors, inspired by the Juicy Couture Spring 2008 palette, fill the collection, including lavender, pink, khaki, brown, light brown, khaki aqua, and olive crystal. Silhouettes include soft rectangular and modified oval shapes. For more information, call 973-952-2800 or visit www.safilo.com.

OLIVER PEOPLES DEBUTS SUMMER 2008 COLLECTION
The Oliver Peoples Summer 2008 Collection debuted at Vision Expo East. The Sofiane, the summer must-have style of the Oliver Peoples collection, was a particular favorite. The style marks the debut of the new and exclusive trademarked category of eyewear: Suspended Metal, which blends technology and beauty, Oliver Peoples' representatives report. A hand-laid metal wire is encased in two layers of hand-sculpted plastic. The firms' spokespeople note that the technology has been a labor of love for designer Larry Leight, who developed it over several years. The Sofiane aesthetic reads as a feminine, thin plastic frame with a floating metal wire, creating a modern, elegant sunglass. On the ophthalmic side, the Massine was a highlight. The frame is retro in styling, yet modern in design. Its unique construction mixes metal and plastic, creating an ultra lightweight, elegant, and sophisticated style.
