The Vision Council's latest public service announcement (PSA) was chosen for an ADDY award by The Advertising Club of Metropolitan Washington. The ADDY awards recognize the best in creative excellence in advertising. The "Sight Matters. Look into Your Eyes" PSA received top honors in the Regional/National TV, Consumer Services, Health Care Services Television category.
Eastern States Eyewear has announced the winners of its Cazal Eyewear "Unforgettable Rewards" promotion. Les Varin from DBA Pearle in Rochester, N.Y. won the grand prize of a trip for two to New York during this year's Vision Expo. The winner of the runner-up prize of a digital camera is Roxana Williams from Kirkland Vision in Kirkland, Wash. The second runner-up prize of a $200 American Express gift certificate goes to Eric Katsev at E&P Pearle in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Safilo USA has updated its business-to-business website to improve customer service
Framescape announced that its interactive 3D product demo, developed by AIS Media in Atlanta, won a Gold award at the 2007 International Davey Awards. The product demo was produced for the Vision Expo East show.

Transitions Optical has announced the continuation of its scholarship program in 2008. Supported by the Transitions® Healthy Sight for Life Fund, the initiative will award $500 scholarships to outstanding students under the 2008 theme, Focus on Healthy Sight Counseling. All students currently enrolled in an accredited opticianry or optometry program in North America were eligible to apply for the program. Winners will be announced by June 15, 2008.
Safilo USA has relaunched its business-to-business website, www.safilonet.com, and enhanced its features. The new website was previewed in the company's new booth at Vision Expo East. Website upgrades designed to improve the customer service experience include a new downloadable catalog that will be updated twice monthly as well as educational modules that are available at no charge to Safilo customers.

HOYA Vision Care North America has named Greg Rook director of distributor sales in the company's western region. An optical industry veteran, Rook has 22 years' experience in sales and marketing in executive and account management positions. He most recently served as vice president of sales and marketing for the lens company Polycore USA in the Americas. Hydrogel Vision Corporation, maker of Extreme H2O® soft contact lenses, announced the appointment of Deb Bulken as Hydrogel Vision's new director of sales for the northeastern U.S. Bulken has 21 years' experience in the contact lens industry through CIBA Vision, where she worked in various sales and sales management positions. Optometry's Charity, the foundation of the American Optometric Association (AOA), recently appointed Anna Marie Wingron as administrative director of the 34,000-member organization. |
