Runway Report
With a brighter summer days and economics on the way, consumers are seeking stylish offerings. This season's top eyewear trends, gleaned from reports by Eyecessorize.com and Luxottica, pair well with summer runway fashions.
■ NATURE-INSPIRED. Pretty
petal prints are right on target along
with oceans of seafoam green and
turquoise. Eyewear follows nature's
lead in earthy hues and elements such
as bamboo, wood, horn, and leather.
Classic tortoise gets updated with
blonde tints and flecked highlights.
■ GLITZ & GLAM. Fanciful
silhouettes and glamorous fabrications
escape the global recession.
Everything from dresses to cropped
jackets grace the runways in lustrous
metallic fabrics. Bold colors, cut-out
detailing, and extras touches like
feathers raise the style bar. Women's
eyewear follows
suit with cut-out
details, jeweled
accents, and gradient
and mirrored
lenses.
■ THE WILD
SIDE. Fashion
gets fierce as
designers deliver a
blend of military
and tribal trends.
Creative and bold, this style direction
includes leather tunics, metallic fabrics,
and leather bomber jackets.
Eyewear also gets feral with oversized
shapes and untamed print and
texture accents.
■ THE PAST IS PRESENT. A
nod to simpler times, the vintage
styles on the runway include everything
from stripes and tweeds to
whimsical patterns. Retro-inspired
men's eyewear is key. Classic round
and square shapes in traditional
tortoise or black feature dropped or
upswept temples, and frames and
lenses get modern with bold color
touches. EB
