Transitions Optical, Inc., has named Peter Kehoe, OD, professional relations advisor, and Alexis Cardona as chief marketing officer. SynergEyes, Inc., has appointed Michael DeAngelo to vice president of sales, North America, and David Fancher to senior vice president, global sales. LENSCO has promoted Richard Chesney to national field manager, covering all U.S. sales territory regions for the company. Chesney joined LENSCO in April 2006 as a territory manager overseeing Arizona. Shamir Insight, Inc., has added Tony Vines to its sales force. Vines joins Shamir as an account executive, covering Virginia and West Virginia. |

Elisa Hernandez, a Vision Care Technology student at George Westinghouse High School in Brooklyn, N.Y., received the first annual Santinelli International Award from Santinelli International, a new member of the school's Optical Council. In addition to award, Hernandez received an optician's tool kit from Santinelli.
SECO International has been honored with the Association of Optometrist's Award, which was created by the Association of Optometrists (AOP) to recognize an individual or institution that has made a significant impact on the advancement of optometry within the United Kingdom.
Lauren Nelson from the University of Houston College of Optometry has been awarded a $6,000 scholarship from HOYA Vision Care North America. HOYA representatives honored the winner as well as the grant and scholarship program's 13 finalists during Optometry's Meeting.
The American Optometric Association (AOA) Paraoptometric Section announced its annual award recipients during the 31st Paraoptometric Section Awards Luncheon sponsored by CIBA Vision at Optometry's Meeting. They are: Lynn Konkel, MS, CPOT, of Watertown, Wis., Paraoptometric of the Year; Jan S. White, of Waupun, Wis., Community Service Award, and the Wisconsin Paraoptometric Association, which was recognized for its membership efforts.

Representatives from the Bausch + Lomb Early Vision Institute and Lions Clubs International Foundation recently formed the Pediatric Cataract Initiative to identify, fund, and promote innovative methods of overcoming this condition. The group has also formed a sixmember inaugural global advisory council.
PixelOptics and Aspex Eyewear recently announced the completion of license negotiations and agreement executions for Aspex Eyewear to become PixelOptics' exclusive licensee for emPower! electronic eyeglass frames in North America. Aspex will manufacture, distribute, and sell emPower! frames in North America.

Viva International Group has relocated its New York City sun showroom to 185 Madison Avenue. The building's 15th floor is devoted to a 5,000-square-foot showroom for corporate meetings, events, and sales and marketing appointments.
HOYA Vision Care North America has opened a service center in Denver to exclusively serve independent eyecare professionals.
Allison has opened a showroom in Milan, Italy. The new space will showcase all 16 eyewear collections of the brands Allison distributes.
Mykita has opened a boutique in Monterrey, Mexico. The shop—the company's first location outside of Europe—stocks the full range of corrective spectacles and sunglasses as well as exclusive designer collaborations and limited editions.

Vistakon has pledged $50,000 over the next five years to the American Optometric Association (AOA) Foundation's Dr. Pat & Patrick Cummings Memorial Fund.
Under the guidance of James Kim, president of the SUNY College of Optometry's Lions Club, the group raised $1,565 for Optometry Giving Sight with an event that featured dinner, as well as an auction of a digital wide field lens contributed by Volk, and a prize raffle that included a pair of Oakley sunglasses donated by Luxottica and an iPod donated by HOYA.
Ai Squared, a Vermont-based business which specializes in computer access solutions for the visually impaired, recently sponsored the 2010 Annual Dinner and Silent Auction for the Vermont Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (VABVI). The event raised $22,031.
ClearVision Optical participated in "Camp Day" at Camp Kehilla, an educational day camp for children with special needs, located in Wheatley Heights, N.Y. ClearVision's summer interns visited the camp for a day of festivities that included activities such as cheer competitions, relay races, ping pong contests, and water balloon games.
