SPECTACLE LENSES
SEEING BLUE IN SYNC |
---|
Eye Solutions, Inc., has developed its Blu-Tech Lenses to help protect against the onset and progression of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) while maintaining natural color vision. The lenses are designed to filter damaging high-energy blue wavelength light, which has been identified as a culprit in AMD advancement. The blue wavelength light comes not only from the sun, but also from LED screens and energy-efficient light bulbs. The indoor and outdoor Blu-Tech lenses are available as plano lenses and as Rx-able lenses in a variety of base curves, powers, adds, and coatings. INFO: blutechlens.com EYE SOLUTIONS Blu-Tech Lenses The Hoya Free-Form Company’s Sync single-vision lenses help wearers battle the eyestrain that handheld digital devices can cause. Sync lenses generate overlapped, comfortable retinal images to guarantee relaxed binocular vision in all directions and consistent clear image perception and depth of vision. They are not progressive lenses, but rather have vertical aspheric singlevision design elements applied across the width of the lenses to provide functional accommodation support for intermediate and near vision. The functional support shifts gradually from distance refraction correction toward values up to +0.53 D (Sync 5) or +0.88 D (Sync 8). Changing Focus
Adlens opens a new category of vision correction with its complete range of variable focus prescription eyewear. Available as both clear ophthalmic and sunwear, its Hemisphere and John Lennon eyewear lines offer fluid-injection technology to provide instant vision correction for myopia, hyperopia, and presbyopia as well immediate dispensing. The refractive power of each polycarbonate lens is set by adjusting the external reservoirs of optically clear silicon fluid. Once the prescription in each eye is set, the dispenser can remove the reservoirs and seal the lens. Hemisphere covers spherical powers from -4.50D to +3.50D. The technology was developed to provide vision correction in less developed countries, and Adlens will donate a pair of glasses to someone in the developing world for every pair purchased through its Buy One Give One program.

PRACTICAL SYSTEMS Sure-Lock Hydrophobic Gripping Discs
GET A GRIP EQUIPMENT |
---|
Practical Systems, Inc., (PSI) has introduced Sure-Lock Hydrophobic Gripping Discs, which are made of a unique material that aids in edging lenses, including those with super-hydrophobic coatings. The clear, oval-shaped discs are placed directly on the lens, and the blocking pad is placed on top of the disc—providing a strong bond with the lens and stable blocking base for adherence without torque. They are easily removed with the fingerlift tab provided. The discs can be used on the back side of lenses as well to protect the lens from the edger chuck. The transparent nature of the discs make it easy to see layout markings underneath. They are available in a roll of 1,000. INFO: LookToPSI.com |
