BUSINESS UPDATES
X-Tra Lite Optical has moved to a new 5,500-square-foot location in Huntington Beach, CA. In addition, the company has added a new digital surfacing lab with the acquisition of new digital technology from Schneider Optical Machines. Both the new facility and new lab will allow X-Tra Lite to produce digital lenses in-house and provide a solid foundation for further expansion in the future.
Super Systems recently debuted its latest FastGrind 2200 in Peru at the annual Optovision show in Lima.
Santinelli International has implemented Santi U IT, a new instructional initiative to help its associates develop and increase their IT skill level in an effort to better serve its customers.

Prevent Blindness America (PBA) has announced Ava Lloyd, age 4, of South Dakota as the winner of the 2012 Most Beautiful Eyes Contest. She and her family were presented with a $10,000 scholarship, sponsored by Marchon, at the PBA Annual Dinner in Chicago.

The Vision Council (TVC) was recently honored with two National Health Information Awards, a program that recognizes the nation’s best consumer health information programs and materials. TVC’s Kids Ultraviolet (UV) Brochure with Stickers received a Silver Award in the Booklet/Brochure/Pamphlet category, and the 2011/2012 Readers Campaign (video series) received a Bronze Award in the Total Health Information Program category.
The American Optometric Association is now accepting nominations for the National Optometry Hall of Fame. Nominations are open to all optometrists who are involved in optometric clinical care, federal service, academia, research, or industry. Nominations are due Dec. 31, 2012. Forms can be downloaded from the Optometry Cares — The AOA Foundation website.
