WINNING COLLABORATION

Rudy Project, a leader in sports eyewear, and lens designer Shamir Insight have formed a partnership to provide technically advanced prescription sports solutions to meet the demanding needs of athletes.

The partnership combines Rudy Project’s award-winning, techno-geometric Italian frames (with lightweight Kynetium material and adjustable temple arms and nose pieces) with Shamir’s Attitude III progressive and single-vision sports and sun lenses. The lenses will be crafted in Rudy Project’s ImpactX lens material and will be edged at Shamir’s new edging facility in Los Angeles. Autograph III lenses will be available for all of Rudy Project lines. Special promotions are available to all Shamir and Rudy Project accounts.

Presenta Nova has introduced its WS BG shelving system, featuring a sleek European design and new LED lighting technique that improves the visibility of frames. The new lighting technology exposes the frames clearly in an ideal, shadow-free illumination. The dimmable white LED light is integrated in each shelf for an equal, indirect lighting. As an additional eye-catching feature, there is a remote-controlled, color-changing ambient LED light on the edges of each shelf, allowing ECPs to choose from more than 20 lighting effects. The system also introduces a new way of displaying frames, with magnetic frame holders that provide for easy spacing throughout the shelf, eliminating clutter. It also allows the frames to be rotated on the shelf, letting ECPs show off whatever part of the frame they choose.

SynergEyes, Inc., manufacturer and marketer of the Duette and UltraHealth families of contact lenses, has launched its newest lens, Duette Progressive, designed to deliver exceptional vision at all distances for emerging and advanced presbyopes. Duette Progressive features a dual-aspheric optic design, which includes a center-near add zone with a choice of three add powers to give the practitioner greater control over the visual outcome. The lens also features an 84 Dk silicone hydrogel skirt around the 130 Dk center, which is made of UV-blocking materials. The Duette platform delivers all-day tear exchange and lens movement to make it a comfortable and healthy contact lens option, the company notes.

Designed specifically for Nidek pliable blocks, these pliers feature a cushioned, silicone grip with built-in finger “channels” on the handle for comfort and ease of use. The tool’s spring-loaded plier action provides fast and accurate removal of pliable blocks. Additionally, the pliers are crafted with an optimal jaw angle, eliminating the potential for lens surface and/or frame finish damage. The design of the jaws, which envelop the block, minimizes wear and tear and extends the life of the block.

IMPROVED ANTI-FOG

Essilor of America has launched the new and improved Optifog lenses. They have been refreshed to make them easier to use while still keeping wearers’ vision free from annoying and potentially dangerous fog. When originally launched, Optifog lenses needed a weekly application of a special liquid to activate the anti-fog property on the lenses. Now, patients can clean and activate the lenses at the same time with the Optifog Activator Cloth. Optifog lenses include a top layer containing fog-repellent properties on both the front and back side of the lens that are activated through the daily use of the Optifog Activator Cloth.
