FIGHTING THE BLUES
HOYA Vision Care and BluTech Lenses have teamed up to offer a range of lens materials, designs, and treatments that help counter the risks associated with exposure to high-energy visible light (HEV), better known as blue light.
HOYA is now offering many of its designs in BluTech Lenses, which filter HEV and block UV light using an infusion of ocular lens pigment in the monomer of an optical lens. HOYA designs that are available in BluTech Lenses include flat-tops, free-form single vision, free-form backside PALs, and computer lens designs.
HOYA also offers Recharge EX3, an AR treatment that blocks a portion of HEV light.

ADJUSTABLE SUNDIAL
Adlens, maker of variable focus eyewear, has introduced its newest product: Adlens Sundials. Built on the same Alvarez lens technology as its award-wining Adlens Adjustables eyewear, each lens is comprised of two wave-shaped plates that can glide across one another, altering the power of each lens.
The instantly adjustable sunwear, featuring dark lenses with UVA/UVB protection, can correct more than 90 percent of spherical errors (-6.00 to +3.50). Four styles are available, including an all-black frame or a black front with pink, green, or blue temples. They have been designed for people who do not usually buy optical sunglasses, and can be used in various situations during outdoor activities or on vacation.

SMALL AND MIGHTY
Coburn Technologies has launched a new model of its latest lens generator ideally suited for small- and mid-sized labs (including retail labs) to produce both digital and conventional prescription lenses.
The new Cobalt LTE delivers wet-cut-quality results without the need for a water management system, and only requires 20 square feet of lab space (including ancillary equipment). It features Coburn’s mist-cut generating technology as well as air bearing, voice coil, and direct drive technologies to increase cutting accuracy and lens through-put.
Unlike Coburn’s previous compact generators, the equally compact Cobalt LTE will work with the Cobalt DP polisher, other qualified soft-tool polishers, and Coburn’s LaunchPad polishing technology that allows users to polish free-form lenses on a conventional cylinder machine.

DON’T TOUCH
The eyeX3 from PFO Global uses laser scanning measurement technology to trace frame shapes, lenses, frame bevels, and lens grooves to exact specifications without making contact with a frame or demo lens.
The laser scanning system captures one scan at a time, analyzes the ensemble of all scans, and returns a high-resolution, three-dimensional geometry of the frame. It features touchscreen interface, a compact and closed system, data storage capabilities, and cloud-based file sharing for remote trace submissions (which eliminates frame shipments)—all with quarterly automated calibration.
The tracer works will all frame materials and types, including rimless, drilled rimless, and fish-wire.
