For two purveyors of sports performance eyewear, online sales are truly focused. “I think online is a more specialty niche,” says Roberta Johnson, owner of sportsvisionbend in Oregon. “Either their friend had it, and they want it, but they can’t find it, or they see it in a newspaper or magazine. It’s filling a demand [for a product] that’s been advertised or given word-of-mouth.”
