Essilor announced that Paul du Saillant has been appointed CEO of EssilorLuxottica, citing its reorganization as the company further integrates with Luxottica. He succeeds Laurent Vacherot, who has retired as CEO of Essilor International.
Following 17 years with The Vision Council, most recently as executive vice president of operations and membership, Greg Chavez has left the company to pursue the role of CEO for the Dental Trade Alliance.
Jim Mazzo has retired as president of ophthalmic devices and head of the ophthalmic devices strategic business unit for Zeiss. Euan Thomson, Ph.D., will assume the role and will be appointed president of ophthalmic devices. Additionally, Andrew Chang has been appointed president of Carl Zeiss Meditec, Inc., and will continue to lead the global ophthalmic sales organization.

Eschenbach Optik of America, Inc., announced its partnership agreement with The CNIB Foundation, Canada’s largest nonprofit serving people with sight loss. Canadians will have increased access to Eschenbach’s range of video magnification solutions through all of The CNIB Foundation’s enterprises.
◄ The New England College of Optometry (NECO) and other industry leaders, including members from Eyecare Business parent company PentaVision LLC, signed an Industry Collaboration Proclamation at SECO in March. The proclamation focuses on practice empowerment and acceleration, public perception and expectations of optometry, and the impact of technology on the industry. The proclamation resulted from discussions held during a NECO Industry Collaborative gathering in November 2019.
