Specs Celebration
Etnia Barcelona is celebrating 20 years of vibrant, innovative eyewear.
“Back then, the eyewear market was totally unfamiliar with such pulsating colors,” says Etnia Barcelona CEO and founder David Pellicer, reminiscing on the brand’s launch. “The collection broke all molds, was a total disruptor.”
In recent years, the firm has emphasized sustainable practices—reducing its use of single-use plastics and ensuring that all packaging is eco-friendly. The company uses plastic-free, pure mineral glass Barberini lenses—out of respect for the environment and so that wearers can experience the colors of the world in greater clarity.
Plus, since 2016, the Etnia Barcelona Foundation has offered eyecare support to more than 25,000 families in need.
The brand’s 20th anniversary collection features four styles (Einstein, Kennedy, Kahlo, and Kubrick, pictured) in a chess-patterned acetate, paying homage to a similar launch released by the brand in 2006.
A+ Style
Lindberg, the Danish luxury eyewear brand recently acquired by Kering, shares the latest styles to its celebrated collections for kids and teens—air titanium rim kid silhouettes (pictured) and acetanium teen, which pairs acetate frame fronts with stainless steel temples.
The Lindberg air titanium kid style Skye K25M/80 (pictured) features the brand’s signature spiral hinge, which, along with the titanium wire, adds a pop of vibrant color alongside the acetate inner rims.
FRESH CUTS
Jean-François Rey has announced he will place ownership of his eponymous eyewear company with Walter Pirinoli, Dan Levi, and Ralf Kmoch. Rey and his wife, Joëlle, will continue to manage and support the design team.
Separately, Marchon refreshes its Skaga brand with a new campaign, tagline, website, and design direction to accompany its latest eyewear collection.
Marchon also announced it has entered into an exclusive, long-term global licensing agreement for optical eyewear and sunglasses with Zeiss Vision Care. The Zeiss collection will be previewed in fall 2021 under Marchon’s Altair portfolio.
Safilo and Chiara Ferragni announced a multiyear global licensing agreement for the design, manufacture, and distribution of the first Chiara Ferragni-branded eyewear collection. The first collection will be available in January 2022.
Safilo also redesigned its U.S and Canadian B2B website for optical customers. Updates include user-friendly navigation, ease of ordering, and tracking: mysafilo.com.
Ultimate Ultem
The Flexon collection from Marchon Eyewear, known for its comfortable, flexible, and durable designs, has introduced its first-ever plastic styles: three new optical frames featuring Flexon memory metal temples with laser-etched rubber sleeves and adjustable temple tips paired with Ultem plastic frame fronts.
The latest release is launched to appeal to wearers looking for modern, lifestyle-inspired styling with the same lightweight yet sturdy silhouettes the brand is known for.

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, luxury fashion house Jimmy Choo is launching a limited-edition eyewear collection, available from Safilo.
The assortment consists of two sunglasses (Kyla/S 25th and Mya/S 25th) and one optical style (JC317 25th), designed for confident and glamorous consumers in search of eye-catching styles. The collection features crystal embellishments and a special anniversary engraving on the temples.
Here, the Jimmy Choo Kyla/S offers a sophisticated butterfly silhouette adorned with hand-applied Swarovski crystals.
