Shamir introduces an expansion to its eco-friendly Glacier Plus Metaform lens.
Now available in 1.6 and 1.67, Shamir’s Glacier Plus Metaform is an eco-friendly option that relies on fewer resources and chemicals in production. Shamir shares that the production process is up to 80% more energy-efficient compared to alternatives.
According to Shamir, Glacier Plus Metaform technology produces thinner and lighter high-minus prescription lenses that are up to 18 times stronger than the U.S. Food and Drug Administration requirement and up to 20% thinner and lighter than regular minus lenses. The thinner and lighter lenses are made possible by using a Preform overlay that, Shamir shares, contains a super-resistant optical film also used by the auto, aviation, and space industries due to its impact-resistance qualities.

InTouch
After examining recent trends in digital device usage, Shamir has updated its InTouch progressive lens to further address the world’s evolving digital environment.
According to Shamir, InTouch progressive lenses provide enhanced visual comfort and clarity in the “handheld zone,” the reading area between 15 to 27 inches from the eyes.
Compared with standard progressive lenses, InTouch progressive lenses offer a 22% broader reading area and a 21% wider intermediate area, according to the company. Additionally, Shamir shares that the design of the lenses provides visual clarity and easy transition across all viewing zones.
The lenses are available in minimum fitting heights of 15mm and 18mm.
