Carri Rivera, FCLSA, NCLEM, and Ryan Marshall have been appointed to the specialty vision products division at Bausch + Lomb. With more than 20 years of eyecare experience, Rivera will serve as manager of consultation and customer service to enhance practitioner experience, support, and education with the company’s specialty lens portfolio. Marshall will now serve as specialty market manager for New England after starting with Bausch + Lomb in 2014 as the New Hampshire vision care territory manager.
◄ The Centre for Ocular Research & Education (CORE) has welcomed specialty contact lens innovator Daddi Fadel, DOptom, FSLS, FBCLA, FAAO, FIACLE, as a clinical scientist. Dr. Fadel is the founder and head of the European School of Scleral Lenses, founder and past president of Accademia Italiana Lenti Sclerali, and co-founder and president of the Euro & Austral-Asia Scleral Lens Academy.
Hilco Vision has announced a leadership transition within its Belgium- and Netherlands-based ophthalmic subsidiary, Simovision. Filip Chavatte has succeeded retiring founder Marc Simonet as Simovision’s managing director, bringing 25 years of health care experience from companies such as GE Healthcare, Baxter, and Johnson & Johnson.
With an MBA in health care management and six years of management experience across multiple independent practices, Jenna Armitage has joined IDOC as a managed care consultant.
◄ Steve Mount has been promoted to vice president of sales at Kenmark Eyewear. Mount started with Kenmark Eyewear in 1994 as a territory manager and has since served as regional manager, corporate trainer, Western U.S. sales director, and, most recently, national sales director.
The Optical Foundry has appointed Cynthia McWilliams to chief sales officer for OGI Eyewear and Article One Eyewear. McWilliams brings more than 30 years of experience in the eyewear industry to the role.

To expand its range of plastic and polycarbonate-finished single-vision lenses, Hoya Vision Care has partnered with Jiangsu Sigo Optical—a move meant to enhance Hoya’s lens portfolio while providing a more sustainable supply chain for customers.

◄ Binod Rayamajhee has been named the 2022 recipient of the Joe and Janet Barr Early Career Cornea and Contact Lens Research Award by the American Academy of Optometry Foundation. The award provides a first- or second-year M.S. or Ph.D. student in vision science or physiological optics with $2,000 for cornea/ocular surface or contact lens research funding. Rayamajhee is a second-year optometric Ph.D. student at the University of New South Wales School of Optometry and Vision Science in Australia.
CooperVision has begun searching for the nation’s Best Practices honorees and student scholarship recipients for 2023. Now in its eighth year, the initiative recognizes innovative eyecare practices dedicated to providing exceptional care while giving optometry students the opportunity to learn directly from some of the best in optometry. VSP Vision and the National Optometric Association have announced the recipients of the Dr. Marvin R. Poston Leadership Award, presented annually to current National Optometric Student Association (NOSA) members who reflect Dr. Poston’s commitment to leadership, service, and diversity. This year’s recipients are Alexis Abernathy of the Illinois College of Optometry, Babirekere Bakama of the Inter American University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry, Brittany Martin of the University of Alabama School of Optometry, Ade Owolewa of the New England College of Optometry, and Chinelo Onyeador, O.D., (NOSA executive board president) of the Kentucky College of Optometry.
