HOYA VISION CARE
Sensity 2
Hoya Vision Care has announced a new color option for its Sensity 2 light-adaptive lenses—oceanic blue—as an addition to the existing color range of silver gray, bronze brown, and emerald green.
According to Hoya, Sensity 2 lenses feature nearly twice the fade-back speed of their predecessor, Sensity—they also employ Stabilight Technology and Precision Technology for consistent UV protection and a spin-coating for greater scratch resistance. Additionally, Hoya shares that the lenses provide both blue light protection and 100% UV protection indoors and out, rapidly darken to a category three sun lens tint, and reduce glare from the sun when activated while remaining clear indoors.
All Sensity 2 lens colors are compatible with the company’s single-vision, backside progressives and iD designs, in addition to all of Hoya’s antireflective treatments.
BAUSCH + LOMB
Infuse Multifocal
Bausch + Lomb (B + L) has introduced Infuse Multifocal, silicone hydrogel daily disposable contact lenses designed to address the needs of patients with presbyopia.
According to B + L, Infuse Multifocal delivers clear vision with transitions across near, intermediate, and distance vision while minimizing contact lens dryness, which nearly 70% of multifocal contact lens wearers report experiencing during lens wear.
The silicone hydrogel daily disposable lens material kalifilcon A enables breathability with a low modulus and high moisture, B + L shares, allowing the lens to maintain 96% of its moisture for 16 hours. Infused in the lens material, B + L’s ProBalance Technology releases a combination of ingredients (informed by the Tear Film and Ocular Surface Society’s DEWS II report) during lens wear that support maintaining ocular surface homeostasis and prevent dryness.
ZEISS
Warm Eye Masks
Zeiss has announced the release of Zeiss Warm Eye Masks, individually wrapped and disposable eye masks with soft ear loops designed to refresh and soothe dry and tired eyes.
The masks use heat to stimulate and unblock the eyelid’s meibomian glands, supporting natural tear fluid production to keep eyes moist and refreshed, Zeiss shares. The heat activates upon opening and lasts for 15 minutes.
According to the company, the masks can be used for dry eye relief as well as to relieve sore or tired eyes from excessive screen use, airborne pollution, or air conditioning.
SHORT CUTS
DRY EYE TREATMENT
Bausch + Lomb has announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Miebo for treating signs and symptoms of dry eye disease (DED). Formerly known as NOV03, the water- and preservative-free perfluorohexyloctane ophthalmic solution is the first FDA-approved treatment for DED that directly targets tear evaporation by reducing evaporation at the ocular surface, according to the company. bausch.com
