April 13, 2021 — Black Eyecare Perspective, an organization created to cultivate lifelong relationships between African Americans and the eyecare industry, is hosting a Signing Day event to celebrate the achievements of the Black Eyecare Perspective Pre-Optometry Club (BEPPOC) members who have been admitted into the class of 2025 at a school or college of optometry.
The organization has shared that since August 2020, BEPPOC has grown to more than 60 members, with about 34% of the membership applying to optometry school this cycle with over a 80% acceptance and admittance rate.
Scheduled for Tuesday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. ET, the organization will award more than $13,000 in matriculation grants to its participants and Charissa Lee, O.D., (head of North America professional affairs at Johnson & Johnson Vision) will reveal the organization’s video contest winner and deliver a keynote message.
