Dec. 1, 2021 – New Look Vision Group has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Luxury Optical Holdings, Inc. (LOH).
The LOH acquisition will more than double New Look’s foothold in the U.S. and expand its position in the luxury market.
Based in Quebec, its 450-plus locations in Canada already make New Look the largest eyecare group in that country. Adding to its 2020 acquisition of Edward Beiner and partnership with Black Optical earlier this year, the LOH purchase will position New Look as one of the leading luxury groups worldwide.
LOH, the largest luxury optical retailer in the U.S., has 34 luxe locations, doing business under exclusive names such as Morgenthal Frederics, Robert Marc, Salle Opticians, Georgetown Optician, and Leonard Opticians.
LOH also designs and produces small batches of quality buffalo horn, titanium, acetate, and slate eyewear abroad and is the exclusive distributor of Lunor, Robert Marc, and Morgenthal Frederics eyewear to high-end independent eyecare professionals in the U.S. These businesses will continue to be led by LOH CEO Tim Mayhew, and New Look plans to retain key LOH home office personnel and other senior management in their current positions.
Leadership at both organizations expresses excitement over the new arrangement. New Look president and CEO Antoine Amiel says, “This transaction will be a major step forward for both organizations, with particular focus on expansion—both retail and wholesale—and product development.”
LOH’s CEO Tim Mayhew concurs. “Antoine Amiel and I share a belief that eyewear is the most important luxury accessory, and I look forward to working with him to build a premium global optical company.”
