Feb. 21, 2023 — The agenda has been set for Envision Conference West, set to take place March 30 through April 1 in collaboration with UT Health Department of Occupational Therapy at the Academic Learning and Teaching Center of UT Health in San Antonio, TX.
The organizers of the Envision Conference through Envision University have announced the two-day schedule of clinical education and research presentations here. All presentations offer continuing education credits from agencies including the Council on Optometric Practitioner Education, the American Occupational Therapy Association, and the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals.
The following are some of the program’s highlights:
- “Role of Head-Mounted Augmented Reality Device in Improving Visual Function of Individuals with Low Vision,” with Sarika Gopalakrishnan, Ph.D., FAAO, of the Envision Research Institute
- “A Step-By-Step Introduction to Hybrid Telehealth Services,” with Erika Andersen Ko, CLVT, from Low Vision Beyond the Clinic LLC
- “Pediatric Low Vision Rehabilitation,” with Laurie Hoffman, O.D., of the Metrolina Association for the Blind
- “The Interaction of Light, Color, and Print Size on Reading Speed in Low Vision,” with Aaron Johnson, Ph.D., of Concordia University
- “Diagnosis and Management for Patients with Inherited Retinal Diseases,” with Stephanie Schmiedecke-Barbieri, O.D.; Patricia Sanchez, Ph.D., DVM; Joyce Zhang, O.D., of the Rosenberg School of Optometry
- “Recognizing & Identifying the Psychosocial Impact of Vision Loss,” with Ana Perez, O.D., of the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center and Adjunct Faculty of the University of Houston College of Optometry
“The multifaceted conference fosters conversations and information sharing among low vision professionals and specialists in a variety of related fields from across the world, ultimately raising the bar for care that will help so many confronted by vision issues and other related and unrelated challenges,” says Michael Epp, Envision’s manager of professional education. “And we’re excited to be collaborating with UT Health Department of Occupational Therapy.”
