Jan. 23, 2024 — The Eyewear Designers of the CFDA (edCFDA) has announced its donation of $53,600 to the TransLatin@ Coalition, marking the conclusion of its 2023 Pride Eyewear Initiative.
Blake Kuwahara Eyewear, Christian Roth Eyewear, Krewe, l.a.Eyeworks, and Selima Optique each created a limited-edition sunglass design, with a portion of proceeds benefitting the TransLatin@ Coalition—the nation’s largest advocacy organization for the transgender, gender nonconforming, and intersex community, according to edCFDA.
The edCFDA Pride Eyewear Initiative is an annual charitable program, led by independent eyewear designers affiliated with the CFDA, that addresses specific needs within the LGBTQ+ community.
“These funds empower us to strengthen our communities' infrastructure and advance our mission,” says TransLatin@ Coalition president and CEO Bamby Salcedo. “It's heartening to see intentional companies like these recognize the significance of supporting trans-led organizations."
For the third iteration of the charitable program, edCFDA has announced an expansion to include seven designers instead of five in 2024. The designers will be announced shortly, along with a launch event taking place in New York City in March.
