Jan. 23, 2024 — The American Optometric Association (AOA) and the American Optometric Student Association (AOSA) have opened registration for Optometry’s Meeting, set to take place June 19-22 with the theme “Harmonizing Our Vision” in Nashville, TN, at the Music City Center.
Gathering doctors, paraoptometrics, office staff, optometry students, and industry professionals, the four-day event comprises professional development opportunities for networking and career building, special events, an exhibit hall, and more than 250 hours of continuing education delivered through hands-on workshops, peer-to-peer forums, and more.
Doctors can earn up to 36 credits and paraoptometrics can earn up to 32 credits on a range of topics including in-office surgical procedures, billing and coding, systemic disease, functional vision, practice management, and more.
“We’re proud to share that this year will boast the most diverse speaker pool since the AOA’s implementation of an updated review process in 2020,” says Randall Kempfer, O.D., co-chair of the education center committee. “Not only is this a testament to the strength of our industry but also to the community it requires to truly advance eye and vision care for our patients.”
Nonmembers and AOA/AOSA members can register here, with special pricing available for members. Early-bird registration rates are available through Sunday, March 31.
The special events taking place at Optometry’s Meeting include the event’s kickoff, the AOA Experience: Opening Session, on Wednesday, June 19. The Paraoptometric Awards Luncheon Celebration and Paraoptometric Idea Exchange will take place on Thursday, June 20, while optometry students can participate in the AOSA Optometry Student Bowl XXXIII powered by EssilorLuxottica. The Celebration of Optometry takes place on Friday, June 21, against the backdrop of the “honky-tonk atmosphere in Nashville,” AOA shares.
Additionally, the event hosts the 127th annual AOA Congress and the 56th annual AOSA Conference. AOA and affiliates will discuss the governance updates related to the profession, news from the AOA Board of Trustees, and annual award presentations. All members are invited to attend, including the election of the AOA Board of Trustees on Saturday, June 22.
