Jan. 4, 2023 — Myopia Profile has revealed the community impact of its My Kids Vision, a free resource that offers parents and caregivers evidence-based information on myopia and its management, with more than 50 articles explaining myopia, treatment options, and children’s vision. Available in seven languages with more in development, the “easy-to-digest” platform “measurably heightened awareness and education, particularly following substantial platform upgrades in 2022,” the organization shares.
“Our motivation behind revamping My Kids Vision was to streamline the communication of the entire myopia message, recognizing that the intricacies involved could be a barrier to effective myopia management,” says Kate Gifford, BAppSc (Optom), Ph.D., cofounder of Myopia Profile.
Dr. Gifford shares that the site has seen a 160% increase in overall page views since its relaunch in 2022, indicating that more parents and caregivers are using the platform to make informed decisions regarding myopia management. Specifically, the site experienced a 170% increase in the U.S., 155% in the U.K., and 165% in Canada. Further, Myopia Profiles shares that, in 2023, eyecare professionals from 194 countries regularly accessed the resource to assist parents with their children’s myopia management journeys.
“Leveraging the My Kids Vision website is invaluable for patient education at my practice,” says Heidi Hunter, O.D., optometrist and managing director at Custom Eyecare in Newcastle, Australia. “Instructional videos, especially on the art of contact lens handling, save time and positively impact patient and parent readiness for discussions on myopia management.”
“The site provides clarity, professionalism, and expert insights and serves as a guiding light, offering much-needed information, reassurance, and empowerment for informed decisions about children’s eye health,” says Dr. David Kading, O.D., FAAO, FCLSA, of Specialty Eye in Seattle, WA.
