March 7, 2024 — The American Optometric Association (AOA) has announced the keynote speaker of Optometry’s Meeting, set to take place June 19-22 in Nashville, TN.
The event gathers optometrists, paraoptometrics, office staff, optometry students, and industry professionals for continuing education and professional development, including technology-focused courses, business solutions, an expansive exhibit hall, and networking opportunities.
Leading artificial intelligence (AI) transformation advisor and former Microsoft executive Tom Lawry will present the event’s keynote, exploring AI’s impact on health care and the role it can play, specifically in eye and vision care. Lawry will discuss AI-driven diagnostics and corresponding strategies for personalized treatment planning in addition to sharing tips for practice management optimization.
Taking place during the AOA Experience: Opening Session, the presentation will kick off Optometry’s Meeting, followed by an opening reception in the Eye Care Square exhibit hall.
Other AI-focused courses include “AI: The Next Frontier,” which explores how AI-driven tech is redefining eye condition diagnosis, treatment, and management, and “The Future of Eye Care: Harnessing the Power of AI,” which discusses current uses of AI in eye care with an actionable framework for safe and effective implementation.
