May 30, 2024 — The Professional Eye Care Associates of America (PECAA) hosted nearly 900 independent eyecare professionals, vendor partners, and industry leaders for its 2024 Annual Meeting April 29 to May 1 in Las Vegas. The event marked the organization’s 15th annual gathering and featured three days of networking, education, and peer collaboration aimed at helping practices adapt to a rapidly changing eyecare environment.
The meeting included keynote speakers and learning opportunities for all practice staff, offering attendees new perspectives and strategies to apply in their practices. More than 65 vendors showcased their latest products and services with member-exclusive savings.
PECAA president Jonathan Worrall emphasized the importance of community building. “In a world where connection is vital, the power of coming together to learn from and support one another is invaluable,” he says. Worrall also acknowledged the role of strategic vendor partners in making the event possible.
PECAA regional leader Kennard Herring, O.D., from Nostalgic Eye Care in Philadelphia, praised the community-centric atmosphere of the event: “PECAA’s annual meetings feel like family reunions,” says Dr. Herring. “Last year, I gained insights from other practice owners on implementing a dry eye specialty. This year, I reconnected with those same people, who invested time in my growth.”
The event featured three keynote speakers: Kristen Hadeed, an entrepreneur and author, shared her experiences in leadership; Lynn E. Lawrence, a decorated Air Force veteran and ophthalmic technician, discussed essential elements for a thriving practice; and Jim Abbott, former Major League Baseball pitcher, inspired attendees with his story of success.
PECAA co-founder Lance Anderson, O.D., and chief member experience officer Justin Manning, O.D., MPH, FAAO, discussed the evolution of PECAA and its annual meeting, highlighting the organization's continued commitment to fostering connections among members.
The Member Appreciation Event returned with a Boogie Wonderland theme, where attendees dressed in ’60s and ’70s apparel and danced to music by the Boogie Knights. Additionally, the Member Choice Awards showcased performances by premier vendors and offered members a chance to learn about new products and technologies.
Attendees also had the opportunity to donate to this year's PECAA Gives beneficiary, Goodie Two Shoes, an organization founded by former NFL player Tony Berti and his wife, Nikki, to provide shoes to children in need in the Las Vegas area.
“Our goal is to provide a space for meaningful relationship building, education, and access to the latest industry products and services,” says PECAA chief operating officer Jamie Hughes. “Year after year, we see our community members enhancing their skills, growing their practices, and sharing knowledge.”
The 2025 PECAA Annual Meeting will take place in Orlando, FL.
