Oct. 2, 2024 — In the wake of Hurricane Helene, the American Optometric Association (AOA) is calling for urgent support for its members and communities affected by the storm.
In a recent video, AOA trustee and Optometry Cares president Belinda Starkey, O.D., emphasized the need for financial aid, encouraging optometrists to either apply for disaster relief grants or donate to help colleagues rebuild their practices and lives.
“We want to make sure everyone knows there are funds available through Optometry’s Fund for Disaster Relief,” shares Dr. Starkey. “I’m asking you to join me in supporting that fund and donating today. We need to make sure that we’re helping our family.”
