Sept. 5, 2024 — Myopia Profile has announced the return of Myopia Action Month this September, a global initiative aimed at addressing the growing issue of childhood myopia. Featuring four weeks of free online seminars, expert-led lectures, and educational resources designed to promote myopia management as a standard practice in eye care, the program aims to mobilize eyecare professionals worldwide to address the increasing prevalence of the condition.
“Myopia Action Month was a tremendous success in 2023, and we’re even more excited for year two with the introduction of considerable new content,” says Myopia Profile cofounder Kate Gifford, Ph.D., BAppSc(Optom)Hons, who was recently featured in #EBLastLook. “The latest offerings provide essential tools and resources that empower ECPs to take meaningful action in protecting the long-term eye health of children.”
Throughout September, ECPs will have access to evidence-based materials and resources tailored to support clinical practice. Highlights of the event include:
- Online seminar series: Available on demand starting Monday, Sept. 9, with sessions designed for both new and experienced ECPs. Topics include the latest research, new technologies, and strategies for successful myopia management.
- “Made Simple” course bundle: A collection of Myopia Profile’s courses, designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience, will be offered at discounted rates.
- Practice resource and team training: The Myopia Management for the Practice Team certification course will be available, along with the My Kids Vision survey tool and other training opportunities for practice staff.
According to Myopia Profile, this initiative aligns with the World Council of Optometry’s advocacy for improved patient care in myopia management. More details, including how to access the seminars, are available here.
