Nov. 14, 2024 — PPG announced changes to its industrial coatings leadership, including the appointment of Juliane Hefel, currently vice president of specialty coatings and materials (SCM), as senior vice president of industrial coatings. In this new role, Hefel will take on strategic and operational oversight of the global SCM business. Hefel, who joined PPG in 2022, will report directly to PPG chairman and CEO Tim Knavish and will join the company’s operating committee. Hefel is succeeding Irene Tasi, who will transition to the role of senior vice president and chief transformation officer, also reporting to Knavish and remaining on the operating committee. Xiaobing Nie, vice president of industrial coatings for China and global consumer products and president of PPG Asia Pacific, will expand her role to oversee all industrial coatings for the Asia Pacific region. Based in Shanghai, Nie will report to Hefel. She joined PPG in 2021 after a career at DuPont, where she held several senior roles, including Asia-Pacific leader for the Shelter division.
Tarsus Pharmaceuticals Inc. has appointed Katherine H. Goodrich, M.D., MHS, chief medical officer of Humana Inc., to its board of directors. A practicing physician with a long career in health care leadership, Dr. Goodrich brings extensive experience in health care access, equity, and affordability. She previously held senior roles within Humana, including senior vice president for clinical analytics and trends, where she led clinical program analysis and cost-saving initiatives. Before joining Humana, Dr. Goodrich served as the chief medical officer at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. A faculty member for more than 25 years at George Washington University Medical Center, Dr. Goodrich continues to practice as a hospitalist and holds a position as a professor of medicine. She also sits on the boards of the National Quality Forum, the Institute for Accountable Care, and the Delaware Valley Accountable Care Organization.
The United Opticians Association (UOA) has appointed Bob Alexander, ABOM, NCLEM, as its new director of education. With an Associate of Applied Science in Opticianry and master certifications from both the American Board of Opticianry and the National Contact Lens Examiners, Alexander has more than 10 years of experience in the optical industry, including serving in significant roles at Hoya and Maui Jim. In his new role, he will lead UOA’s educational initiatives, aiming to enhance resources for the association’s more than 39,000 members across the U.S. and internationally.
