Oct. 11, 2024 — On Tuesday, Oct. 8, students at the Boyce L. Ansley School in Atlanta participated in an interactive eye health fair organized by MyEyeDr. The event, known as ExamJam, aimed to raise awareness about the importance of vision care, especially for youth. Two-time WNBA All-Star and 2020 Olympic gold medalist in 3x3 basketball Allisha Gray was present to speak with students about the benefits of proper eyewear and taking care of their vision.
Gray, who wears glasses herself, shared her personal experience. “I know how important eye health is when it comes to feeling confident and being successful. Wearing glasses helped me do better in school and in sports,” says Gray. “It means so much to me to be able to do this for deserving students in Atlanta.”
The Boyce L. Ansley School is a tuition-free private school for children experiencing homelessness, many of whom lack access to basic eye care. MyEyeDr., which operates several locations in the Atlanta area, partnered with the school to address this need. In November, MyEyeDr. will return to provide each student with a comprehensive eye exam and, if needed, free eyeglasses.
MyEyeDr. CEO Sue Downes highlighted the company's commitment to community health, stating that the goal is to make advanced eye care accessible to everyone, regardless of insurance coverage.
