The Italian Optical Goods Manufacturers’ Association (ANFAO) will present “The Lens of Time – The History of Eyewear in Italy” as part of Made in Italy Day on May 7. The exhibition will take place at Palazzo Flangini in Venice and will be open to the public until July 30.
Organized by ANFAO and curated in collaboration with the Fondazione Museo dell’Occhiale, the exhibition is among several initiatives promoted by Italy’s Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy to highlight the country's production sectors.
The exhibit is divided into three sections and explores the historical development, contemporary design, and production techniques of Italian eyewear. It places particular emphasis on the Belluno district, a major center of eyewear manufacturing in Italy.
More than 100 items are on display, sourced from the Eyewear Museum of Pieve di Cadore and private collections belonging to Venetian optician Roberto Vascellari and designer Lucio Stramare. The collection spans from 13th-century origins to present-day designs and includes historical artifacts, visual media, and interactive installations.
The exhibit opens to the public at 3 p.m. on May 7 and will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Entry is free.
